The truly exceptional feature of Rhinau is that since 1542 it has comprised territory in both France (1735 hectares) and Germany (997 hectares).
Adding to the attraction of the river is the ferry, which as records reveal dates back to the year 1494. It carries about 1,500,000 people across every year. Visitors to Europa-Park, 8 km away, very often make a detour via Rhinau in order to cross the Rhine.
.....
..... This crossing point between the two countries is among the most important and most picturesque anywhere along the Rhine. But beware! Coming to Rhinau can be dangerous people often want to come back again, and sometimes even to stay for good!
